Alt indie pop four-piece Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam have today revealed the video for Auto, the first single to be taken from the band’s forthcoming EP, the follow-up to their debut album released last summer.
Auto chronicles the mundane day-to-day of the 9-5 and is a wonderful and aptly mechanical-sounding three and a half minute call for something more.
Lead singer Andrew Bullock said of Auto and the video which accompanies it:
“It’s about the mundane office jobs we have all gone through at some point in the past coupled with my own past experiences. It’s about trying to go about your normal working life while there is a heavy burden upon you – ‘pacing round with blinkers on’ and being ‘in auto’- in automatic pilot but attempting to block out the external voices from distracting you.
“The concept for the video began with the idea of daydreaming at work and evolved from there. The background projections were intended to be what we were daydreaming about whilst in our boring office jobs. As it evolved it became more about finding interesting backgrounds to drop into the green screen and really we just wanted to make it a fun video to watch with lots going on. We are lucky really to have a close friend who was able to help us create it, Andy Davies of Polkadotfox who also shot our Halloween I video. He put in a lot of hours as the editing process was quite lengthy so he deserves the credit for the video.”
Auto was filmed in Digbeth and Birmingham by Polkadotfox with help from The Lombard Method and Joe Weldon.
The Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam EP will be released on July 3 accompanied by a launch party at The Sunflower Lounge, details to follow. Pre-order the vinyl and CD bundle, here.
