Supersonic Festival has added a second stage and released a further 200 tickets after the event initially sold out within weeks of being announced.
Capsule’s annual celebration of experimental music and art has taken on a more intimate form this year, known as Supersonic Ltd Edtn and taking place across the weekend of May 30 and 31 at the Custard Factory in Digbeth. But the in-demand event has now been expanded to include a stage at brand new music venue Alfie Birds, which opens on the site of the former Medicine Bar within the Custard Factory complex next month.
A host of new acts has consequently been added to the line-up, including Evil Blizzard, Pharmakon, Chris Brokaw, plus Khünnt, Felix Kubin, Sly & The Family Drone and Opium Lord. Two appropriately loud local bands have also been announced, post-punk three-piece Youth Man and Backwards, featuring ex-members of Beestung Lips, Una Corda and Napalm Death.
They join the likes of Swans, Wolf Eyes, Matmos and Sleaford Mods on the already impressive bill.
