We all have those mornings where we wake up with our natural glow turned down low but still want a way to fake it. These simple tips can give you that natural dewy skin with ease and help you fake it until you feel it.
The absolute key to the dewy look is hydration. If you tend to have oily skin the following products and tips won’t be great for you but think of this way… you don’t have to go through all this because you have it dewey skin naturally. There is certainly an upside to more oily skin no matter what we are told.
Having a good skin base for this look is half the battle to achieve dewy perfection, so besides that and drinking plenty of water here are some ‘holy grail’ products and tips that can save your rainy day face.
Step One If you have dry skin starting with a thick moisturizer is important, Clinque’s Moisture Surge Intense (£32) and Benefit’s Total Moisture (£27.50) are two of the high streets finest and can really nourish your morning skin. For all other skin types use your everyday favourite moisturiser concentrating on any problem areas that may distract from all your hard work later on.
Step Two Follow with a luminising lotion or primer such as the Laura Mercier Foundation primer or Smashbox’s Photo Finish Primer to lock in that moisture and set the works in motion for gloriously dewy skin.
Step Three Top all that base work off with a sheer, lightweight foundation to create a flawless radiance to the entire face. MAC Face and Body is an absolute gem and a firm favourite of makeup artists and celebs alike to give a flawless skin texture no matter what your skin type.
Step Four Finish your face with a liquid or cream highlighter to the cheekbones and brow bones with touch on your cupids bow to extenuate all your fabulous features – Elizabeth Arden’s 8 hour cream (£25) is a true saviour in my makeup bag and can certainly catch the light even on those drab days. Throw on a translucent powder under the eyes and the centre of the forehead to balance the areas of highlight and you are done!
If you want to add a touch of colour or turn the dewy day look to sumptuous evening chic just add some blusher. Stick to the warmer tones like Sleek Blush in the very pretty Pixie Pink or Nars Orgasm but go lightly and build the colour until it’s just right for your skin tone. Sometimes less is more people.
Finally if you are going full glam smoke out those eyes, contour those cheeks and plump those lips with some kissable lip-gloss and party the night away and no matter what time of day or night nothing says natural dewy, glowy loveliness than a smile.
