EP Review: Youth Man – Bad Weather

On November 17, Birmingham punk noise trio Youth Man release their debut EP, Bad Weather, via CD and digital download. Recorded over seven days at The Motor Museum in Liverpool with producer Al Groves (Elvis Costello, The Coral, The Zutons, Tantrums, Sunset Cinema Club), the five-track EP, which clocks in at just under 20 minutes, is the powerhouse short-player the group, who have a reputation for a phenomenal live performance, have promised to deliver from the start.

Beginning with recent single Heavy Rain, the record then moves to the minute-and-a-half thrash of Insipid before the dark and brooding Salt gets it into full swing.

Inshallah follows and the record is brought to a close by Wide Awake, a five-and-a-half minute slow burner which is the band’s quietest tune and features their most extended instrumentals to date. This EP is packed to bursting with attitude through the punchy vocals and driving musicianship comprising it.

Bad Weather by Youth Man is released on November 17. Download it here.
