Clare Maguire returns with Glee Club residency

Clare Maguire returns to the live stage this weekend, starting off a three-week residency at Birmingham venue The Glee Club on Friday (May 1).

Bursting onto the national music scene on a wave of industry hype in 2011, with support from the likes of the BBC and MTV, things seemed to have gone a little quiet for the Solihull-born singer since her debut album Light After Dark hit the top 10 in that same year. But now she is back with a brand new EP and the promise of a second album later in the year.

She also returns to the live stage with a residency at The Glee Club in Birmingham throughout May – her first headline shows in her home city for four years.

She plays the intimate venue on May 1, 8 and 15, when she will be showcasing a host of new material. Support comes from DJs Huw Stephens (May 1), High Contrast (May 8) and Jax Jones (May 15).

Now signed to Virgin EMI, her new EP Don’t Mess Me Around – including her stomping soulful single of the same name – is out now, a collection of songs recorded away from the public eye over the past 12 months.
