Video of the Day: Soil and Pimp Sessions

Words by Chris, posted in Features, Music, News on... July 21, 2010

It’s time to get your dancing shoes on as Soil and Pimp Sessions bring their unique brand of “death jazz” from Tokyo to Birmingham.

The Japanese six-piece showcase their energetic stage show at the Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath tonight, courtesy of Leftfoot and Birmingham Jazz.

Soil and Pimp Sessions originated out of combining jazz jams with DJ sets on Tokyo’s club scene and have since gone on to enjoy critical and commercial success, signed to Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings label in the UK.

Check them out below rocking a huge crowd at the Fujirock festival in 2007. Then imagine that energy transferred to the intimate surrounds of the Hare & Hounds and you know you’re in for a pretty special, and no doubt sweaty, night.
