A week on from the horrific terror attacks in Paris that shocked the world, the music community has continued to rally around with various acts of defiance.
The Bataclan music venue where 89 people lost their lives has announced that it will re-open and continue to stage gigs in the future. Fans of Eagles of Death Metal, who were playing when gunmen opened fire on the crowd, also united in their own show of solidarity, launching a campaign to get the American rock band’s cover of Duran Duran’s Save a Prayer to the top of the UK charts.
While the campaign may have attracted a mixed response when it was first announced, Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon has since declared that any royalties from sales would go to relevant charities. More than 16,000 people have backed the bid on Facebook, while the track – which featured on EoDM’s most recent album Zipper Down – looks set to feature in the top 40 when the week’s charts are announced on Sunday.
