Hair aficionados Francesco Group became the official hairstylists for the annual Style Birmingham Live event this year so Hedrock’s Simon Pinder caught up with FG’s James Earnshaw to find out how it all came together.
There were two main looks at the show. On the long haired models, hair was pulled neatly into a ponytail at the nape and then woven into a more diffused fishtail plait whereas the mid-length locks were slicked back at the sides with scalp braids either side of a centre parting.
When asked his thoughts on hair trends for AW13, Earnshaw explained that this season is all about being a little less polished and working with the hair’s natural texture for a slightly messy, undone look, indicative of Kate Moss in her early years. Think deep side partings effortlessly swept across for an instant 90’s grunge look. The aim of this show was to bring the classic up to date by creating a contrast between ‘perfectly’ polished hair and textured finish in the braids.
Here’s some tips on how to get the look:
Wella SP Elegant Shape Body Mousse was blow-dried into the hair to give a good base for the hairstyle to hold in place.
Once the fishtail plaits were created, a styling dust was applied to diffuse the texture for a more undone finish.
James also recommends the new Wella Care & Style Ocean Spritz as an absolute must for any style right now. This salt-spray has a non-sticky finish for effortless lived-in texture.
