Prince’s solo European tour has been postponed in the wake of the terror attacks in Paris.

The Purple Rain star had been due to appear at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall for two performances on December 1, as part of the recently-announced Piano & a Microphone series of shows. A statement from the Symphony Hall today said: “Due to the tragic events in Paris, ICO has decided to postpone the upcoming European Prince tour until further notice.”

Tickets had been due to go on sale last Friday morning but were initially suspended due to concerns over ticket touts.

At least 129 people died in a series of attacks on Paris on Friday night, with more than 80 killed when gunmen opened fire during a sold-out concert by Eagles of Death Metal at the Bataclan concert venue. A series of other high profile gigs in Europe have since been postponed, including U2’s scheduled show in Paris last Saturday and the remaining dates of Foo Fighters’ European tour. Birmingham band Editors also postponed their show in Lyon which had been due to take place on Sunday.

Further details on potential rescheduled dates for Prince’s solo tour are expected to follow.
