Birmingham Weekly Gig Guide July 31 – August 6

This week the weather may be temperamental but your live music calendar doesn’t have to be as we round up the usual mix of aural delights to be had in Birmingham and beyond.

On Thursday (August 1), Brewdog bar presents a night of alternative rock and roll in their unique surrounds with Inches From the Ground and The Ravens from 9pm. This is a free entry event so why not kick back with a selection of the finest craft beers and some new music to enjoy. All details can be found over on the Facebook event.

On Friday (2), Freestyle presents Lobster, Musical Misfits and UPE in a night of reggae punk at The Bull’s Head in Moseley. Entry is priced at £4 and there’ll be the usual great DJ sets from Sam Redmore and Young Culture – find all info here.

The Cribs (pictured top) are also live at The Kasbah in Coventry with support from Sheffield’s Drenge and the West Mids’ own Wide Eyed. Grab a ticket for the advance price of £16.50 from the Kasbah website but be quick as this event will sell out.

Saturday (3) welcomes a Tropical Hotdog reunion as This Is Tmrw present double headliners Sunset Cinema Club (pictured right) and Johnny Foreigner plus support from Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam, Echo Lake, Ace Bushy Striptease, Burning Alms and King Singh. This event, at the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath, promises to be a festival of fun and frivolity so grab your ticket for £7 advance and prepare for indie pop like no other. All info here.

Meanwhile, in the city centre, Birmingham Promoters presents Decades and Superficials at The Sunflower Lounge for a mere £5 on the door. Find out more, here.

Round off your week on Sunday (4) with The Free Love Club at The Sun on The Hill, this week featuring Green Fortune, Snooty Bobs, Elison, The Sunset Limited unplugged, Call-Me Unique, James Hickman & Dan Cassidy and many more. Entry is, as ever, free – find out all you need to know here.
